Carrakripan
Kripan, a high-altitude village in Rioja Alavesa, reshaped my mission and opened my eyes to the urgent need for change in how we treat the land. Historically overlooked, its elevation cast doubt on whether grapes could ripen here. Yet, what was once seen as a challenge, I now see as the future, as higher altitudes offer wines of freshness and balance.
The vineyards for Carrakripan lie along a winding road that ascends a ravine. Tucked into a forest, hidden trails reveal clandestine terraces—vineyards in harmony with nature. Farmed biodynamically and tended by plowhorse, these old vines reflect my commitment to regenerating the land and the people who care for it.
Carrakripan is more than a wine; it is a mission to inspire conscious and respectful farming. The mountain bordering this agricultural land demands care, urging all who work here to honor its balance and beauty.
This unique microclimate yields a blend of very old vines, with a high percentage of white grapes, creating a wine that embodies the fresh vibrancy of this underappreciated area.
The name Carrakripan means “the road to Kripan,” symbolizing both a physical journey and my personal destiny. This wine is a celebration of renewal, reflection, and a call to cultivate a sustainable and harmonious future.
